The Academic Club of Underwater Research has been very active this year. One of the events organized by its members was a series of lectures during which students talked about their scientific interests. The popularity of these meetings exceeded the team's expectations. The first such event took place on December 9, 2024, during which:

• Franek Przybylak introduced the audience to the topic of archaeological wood conservation
• Patryk Talar presented on the exploration of underwater aircraft wrecks
• Dominika Parda and Daria Kaczyńska, our last year’s diving course participants, spoke about what the AKBP diving course is like and what one should keep in mind during it
• Florian Ogrodowski, our guest from the Club of Experimental Prehistoric Archaeology, showcased research methods used by archaeologists exploring Doggerland

The next meeting was held on March 19, 2025. During this event:

• Seweryn Jan Moritz explained the military use of fire in naval skirmishes
• Dominika Parda highlighted the dangers that microplastics pose to aquatic ecosystems
• Daniel Szczepański presented world history through the lens of Baltic amber
• Jędrek Kubiak, our guest from the Student Club of Bronze and Iron Age Archaeology, discussed his use-wear analysis on bronze axes

The final meeting took place on May 8, 2025, where:

• Mikołaj Tański and Piotr Wziętek presented the archaeological heritage of Lake Powidzkie
• Daria Kaczyńska gave a talk on the “senses of the deep” — how sharks and octopuses detect chemical changes in water
• Patryk Małecki discussed how diving contributes to the development of tourism Karolina Kasperek, our guest from the Club of Experimental Prehistoric Archaeology, talked about Cleopatra and the cities of Canopus and Thonis

It was truly a fantastic season, filled with fascinating events! We hope this tradition continues for many years to come. See you next year!
