Didactics

Would you like to become an underwater archaeologist and join our team? It’s easier than you think! All you need to do is enrol in the archaeology program at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. During your undergraduate and master’s studies, you’ll have the opportunity to choose course modules focused on underwater archaeology taught by the Centre for Underwater Archaeology staff.

During these courses, you will learn how to conduct underwater research, explore human history through the lens of the sea, and acquire skills in using drones and 3D modelling in underwater investigations. If you’re interested, you can also take a diving course.

The underwater archaeology modules at Nicolaus Copernicus University are not just about theory—they also include hands-on experience on the legendary island of Ostrów Lednicki, known as the “Mecca” of underwater archaeology. This unique site features three medieval bridges leading to the island, submerged structures, and countless artifacts waiting to be discovered. It is the ideal place to immerse yourself in this fascinating field.
